Chatham Historic Dockyard Railway

Recent Works
The locomotive was restored to working order over a 7 year period between 1997 and 2004, with the restoration work being carried out at the Historic Dockyard, Chatham, by members of the North Kent Industrial Locomotive Society. This involved the following work;
  • The tubeplate built up by welds and 15 rivets renewed, boiler retubed, new smokebox and door fitted.
  • Missing boiler fittings, sourced and fitted, temporary steel pipework fitted.
  • All valves and valve faces machined.
  • New low pressure piston and rings and new high pressure rings fitted.
  • New piston rods, valve rods and valve guides fitted.
  • New tender built and fitted.
  • New timber composite buffer beams fitted.
  • New extension chimney made and fitted.
